Title: engine protector problems

I was hearing scrapes coming from under my car today when going to work, the cover under the engine had become dislodged, had to have it removed today.

does anyone know if these are expensive to replace?

Just leave it off, not really needed.

Its usually the center undertray that goes, rarely the side pieces. If its the middle huge piece then its about £30 on ebay:

I think I caught something on the motorway, the middle piece got damaged as well as the nearside piece.  What rotten luck.

myn feel off so took all the plastic guards (sound proofing) off and its behind the shed at my GF mums house you dont need it :grin:

Unlucky  :sad: Not sure what dealer prices are on these, maybe give them a call, I know my mechanic said they are pricey. Shame no one does a kit of all 3 pieces. Also dervs have covers as well.

Thanks GolfSib, can't be bothered to spend the cash if not required, this seems to be the general consensus here.  Do you have a view on the fuel economy question though, do you think it would make a difference?

Most golfs have the center piece missing even with a stock height, can't see it effecting MPG at all. For me this serves no benefit as I would loose it in a day with a lowered car and all the speedbumps around here. Personally I wouldn't waste my cash on it.

If you ever resell no one will know or check the undertray, only reason you would replace it is if your oem crazy and want everything neat und tidy!
