Title: 16v Engine rebuild.
Post by: old_boy on 14 May 2003, 21:45
Does anyone hear have any experience of ?a 1900cc rebulid on their 16v?
who did you entrust?, good or bad experience?
I have considered a bore and build yourself kit from the likes of TSR, but the idea of a warranty appeals to me.
Any thoughts, please reply.
Also reply if you can help to build it!........... ;)
For originality i would like to keep the my engine for the number, but i might consider a 2 litre!

My neighbour rebuilt my 16v 1.8 engine last year.

Essentially, its had a 1mm oversize rebore to compensate for wear, new Snider pistons (DE Company - not sure of their name) , new valve stems, new cam chain and new distributor.

The engine runs just like new and is absolutely potent.

He is a complete perfectionist and enoyed doing the work and I have no idea how much i paid for his time.

Parts probably cost around the 1k mark alot .

I can put you in contact if you want.
