Title: Number plate locations
Post by: mrDMH on 14 July 2011, 21:12
Just wondering where people locate their number plates with the following setup;

i've seen it a lot recently on the forums, is it purely a show thing, or are their number plates relocated else where?

yea i am sure you can.   for an MOT i think it has to be mounted on the car.

(just use some magic tape and take it off after)

I guess if it's not mounted then the ANPR stuff wont work or the speed camera so they must be able to pull you for it

i am sure some of the new ferraris dont have front plates.

I think it depends on the cops mood to be fair.

All cars leave the factory with front plates to my knowledge.. aslong as back one is in factory position they dont mind as ANPR and speed cameras 99% take a piccy of the rear not the front.. its good removing numberplate and putting in window so when you come to average speed checks just remove from window and blast through  :grin: :grin:

Maybe the cops don't pull them but I am sure if you check it is illegal to have it in the front window.

My mate had a Corvette that he imported from America. That was prepared and put throught it's SVA (RHD lights, rear fog, reverse light etc) and was passed with on front number plate. The said as the vehicle was originally built with nowhere to mount them, it was not required. He drove it like that for 3 years with no bother at all.

I had an identical setup to yours and used sticky adhesive pads to hold my plate in place (Halfords sell them). Its worth getting a set of steel pressed plates and they really did make it look smarter.

Only problem is that over time these pads wore off and became a bit of a royal pain in the arse and really started to wind me up. Im now back to a standard grille (not out of choice mind you but I'm quite glad I don't have to deal with the bloody plate coming off anymore).

It is totally illegal to have it in the front window.
