The policeman seemed very fair tbh, when you look at the tints, german plates, dvd player / tv.

It was a lot of smoke. Another vr6 bites the dust

I did have a larf at all the faults the police pulled him up on, lucky they were very fair and let him remove the tints before they came back with the tester. Felt bad for him though, VR6 wasted

The black dude in the M3 was a right tw@t, "Aint you got nothing better to do than pull me over for my plates?" and trying to start on as if it was because he was black  A-hole. Like the police would be stupid enough to be racist on national telly

I got pulled a few weeks ago for german plates, copper told me to replace them by that evening and he'd pop round and check and if i had changed them he would let me off, fair play.

Bedfordshire police are the worst, most useless and corrupt force around.
Ask any copper from surrounding forces what they think of them

And that bloke would be the first image that would pop into my head if someone asked me to describe a typical mk3 driver!

I didn't realise the Beds police got bonuses for the number of tickets they hand out before this program.

That can't be fair? Normally I find myself rooting for the police in these sort of programs (Road Wars, Interceptors etc), but couldn't help myself thinking they were a bunch of cnuts.

Not saying the people they pulled didn't deserve it.
Title: Re: Golf on Traffic Cops
Post by: Jay on 15 July 2011, 13:11
A lot of businesses have target related bonuses, why not the police?
Title: Re: Golf on Traffic Cops
Post by: trog_nfs on 15 July 2011, 13:19
One of the coppers said it himself on the program "It's taken away our discretion".

If its a minor offence, and you're polite about it, wouldn't discretion and a telling off be more effective than a ticket?

Title: Re: Golf on Traffic Cops

A lot of businesses have target related bonuses, why not the police?
Because the police force isn't  [supposed to be] a business, it's a public service.
Title: Re: Golf on Traffic Cops
Post by: trog_nfs on 15 July 2011, 13:27
Mind you, if they'd turned round and said "We get bonuses for every wife-beater we arrest" we'd all applaud

I don't think a bonus should be an incentive though, they most probably joined the police because they wanted to make the world a better place.
If they said that I'd have even less respect for them, as it would seem cash would be their drive to combat domestic violence, and regardless of morals.

One of the coppers said it himself on the program "It's taken away our discretion".

It' greed that has taken away their discretion, they can still give someone a telling off and not log it to get bonus points.

You'd think the money they're using to pay these bonuses could be put to better use. Especially with all the cuts that have been brought in. Although I suppose the more tickets they give out the more money they'll bring in through fines

And it would seem that the money they get through fines would go straight into their own back pockets!

Understand all of the comments above but i think we are in a greedy society, therefore what can the government do apart from offer incentive to coppers to do the job to the best standard possible.
If you run a car with any of the problems shown inthe program then accept your gonna get done and pay the fine!
If the bloke with the no seatbelt charge had just shut Up and taken it then she wouldn't have worked his car over haha. Was funny as soon as he gobbed off she was off round his car :D
Don't feel sorry for anyone who gets done, that is their job, they are traffic officers enforcing the traffic laws specifically, so if I'm honest they were in the right!
The only thing that annoyed me was when he started talking sh!t about how low the car was, I'm afraid i would have told him it was motd and roadworthy so jog on at that!
Everything else fair enough! Certainly got off light with the windows! Especially as h was being filmed and they had said before thy are not allowed to use discretion!

A lot of businesses have target related bonuses, why not the police?

Because they are there to serve the public's best interest.

A cynic would say they will prey on easy targets, avoiding the bigger fish to satisfy their quotas

German plates are gay and tints are just asking for it. Throwing up the race card to get away with something is just childish. May as well just have guilty written on your head!

I like beds police as they seem to let you off with most small things BUT if you take the piss then you will know about it.

Police force is a business, when the riots etc where taking place at London. HMCTS (another public service) requested the police send extra forces to protect court buildings.

Their reply was "we can do so, but it will cost you as its our time"... The price they quoted was ridiculous considering they are there to protect the public as well as the government (which was there main goal that day).

Some off their responses make me laugh, like a bailiff had a warrant for a possession of a house, when the lock smith opened the doors it turned out to be a cannabis plant  He rang the police and told them, they where not a bit interested and told them to stay there for a few hours till they decide to turn up  His response was on the lines off "hell no, either you come here now or I'm going and leaving the door open"

But its like in any job or profession, you get your cowboys and good workers. Some officers I've had a good time and laugh with others are a bunch of c*nts.

Just run normal numberplates?

Bloke in the BMW was quite clever actually, asking how they spotted it, playing along then stating it doesn't have a black front plate. Did make some good points but did need to STFU a bit and stop being an arrogant douche. I mean, he ran it, he got caught. Police could have simply said that they thought he was on the phone and that drew the attention to the plate. Simples.

Oh and Police round here aren't that bad tbh, got pulled yesterday morning guy said car looks a bit neglected which I said was true, had two tyres, one just on the limit one over and told them I was on the way to work where I was changing the tyres over and he let me go and just said if he see's it driving again wanted to see new tyres on the front.

Swapped them that afternoon which I was genuinely planning to anyway.

The copper who pulled me over said he won't even allow a 'D' on the plates and that although the lettering was clear any typeface that isn't standard will not show up on ANPR and is thus illegal.
