Hi all going to debadge golf and gti from my mk4 can I take off the middle vw badge as well. Is it smooth behind it I'm not sure

Not under the vw. There is a recess there

If you go to a local scrapyard you can pick up a Sharan badge which is slightly smaller so will sit perfectly in the recess.

is it the caddy badge thats the bigger one cuz ive seen a mk4 with a big badge on the back?
