Errr, it's for sys-admins, so they know how long they have to get their laggard users off XP.

That is all.

My nan (83 years old) still uses Win98. She literally uses the PC for outlook to email family abroad. NOTHING else.

She is getting pestered by calls from Microsoft telling her she needs to update!

Ha! Not seen that before.

To be fair the Win98 PC loads fast and is clutter free and fit for purpose!

Im still fond of XP for the same reasons.... Although i am a Mac convert now.

I still run XP Pro as I've no need to go and upgrade. Plus I'm not sure if all of my programs will even run on 7.

I think, although may be wrong, Windows 7, unlike vista, will run any program that is designed for XP. Wasnt this one of the many major flaws of Vista that you couldnt run XP programs on it? Like you used to be able to run backdated programs on XP from ME, 2000, 98 etc?

I used to love playing red alert, I had that on 98, but could never get it to work on XP

That's a widget/gadget/thingy-ma-jig that works under Vista/Windows 7 - something that's only available to Vista/Windows 7. It's more of a fail on the reporters behalf not understanding what it is. It's for admins to remind them (who should be using or testing Win7 before rolling it out, thus having the ability to use the widget/gadget/thingy-ma-jig (I don't like them, yuck).

Most XP Apps will run fine under Win7, even if your apps won't run under Win7 natively or with compatibility mode turned on you can use XP Mode which runs on ANY PC hardware now  Just upgrade to Pro, Enterprise or Ultimate - it won't run under Starter/Home Premium.

32bit Vista/Win7 will run the ooooollllldddd 16bit DOS apps, 64bit won't.
