i have looked but couldn't find the answer, whats a really strong/good brake dust cleaner as ill be refurbing my alloys soon'ish and before i do refurb i need to give them a dam good clean, there's a lot of brake dust (last owner must have never cleaned them and since ive had the golf been meaning to refurb the alloys so never really given a dam good clean) cant seam to shift the dust now.
Thanks in advance

Do you really need to do it if your gonna refirb em anyway? Mine had a lot of baked on brake dust before I refirbed them and just scrubbed them with a scotch pad first before wet n drying them. The scotchpad took everything off so all was good anyway. Its only gonna have worked its way down into the clearcoat at worst so I dont think you will need it, unless you want it for afterwards obviously.

Try WOlf's Braker Duster, spray on, leave to dry, then pressure wash off. If they are really bad though, you may need to agitate a little. Here's a video I did of the Brake Duster at work, speeded up a little....

If your removing and just cleaning them then elbow grease shampoo apc and non scratch kitchen sponge. then if its really caked on brake dust iron x. but wonder wheels do one at halfords but not tried it. If your keeping the wheels on to clean the the above first then Brake duster as its not so strong as iron x and let it dwell for 30 mins and agitate it. Do not use ix in rirect sunlight imo. But if your having referb then let them sand blast them save you doing the hard work. Remember guys always use a good wheel sealant after working hard to keep your wheels clean using just ph shampoo  I recommend permanon aircraft supershine for wheels as it withstands the heat of brake dust up to 300 and it also repels dust and hates dirt

Wolf brake duster has my vote. Worked very well the other day on my mums wheels

Just left it for 5 and rinsed of. Who knows the potential if you agitate or re apply!!!

Guys this thread is lacking after pics without aggitation and with  just to give people an idea of whats good

did my GF Corsa alloys other day (yes there that FUBAR'd she doesn't look after her car + the paints pealing off the fronts so the pics don't do the iornX justice) but really worked well on them took all the crap off them.

Can these products be used on polished wheels? ive got some RM's with polished rims that im struggling to keep clean
-
Guess so mate. You can get stuff like autosmart purple rain, I think its called that :undecided:, which you can use on paint work or wheels. So...yea. Give it a go, then give them a polish. Then chuck a couple of layers of PB wheel sealant/AF mint rims
