Title: Hi from a new member
Post by: andyr on 11 July 2011, 18:25
Hi people, recently acquired a Mk VI GTD in Diamond black pearl. 10 plate with 10,500mls on the clock, nice car but a preeeety firm ride!
Started the VW scene a few years back with a MK III Gti 8v, went on to a VR6 (now *that* was a thirsty car!), then a Diamond pearl black Bora PD150, which we still have at the moment (after 5 1/2 years) until it's sold, we'll be very sorry to see that one go

Eldest son had a MK II Gti valver with stage 1 head, quaif limited slip diff... until the box seized up! went on to a Mk I Caddy pick up... which almost rotted away! Had a few old vans for work, now he's got a Bimmer 330 and can just about afford to run it to the next garage for the next top up!
Youngest son had a nice MK II 8v that was written off by a side swiper and then on to an A3 which he still has (albeit with a *new* bottom end at 120k mls, now at around 200k!).

Well, that's my story....
Onward and upwards eh?

BTW, anyone know if DCC - Dynamic Chassis Control (or ACC Active Chassis Control, depending where you read) can be retro fitted to a MK VI? I realise it's different shocks, more wiring and a widdle brain involved, but I'm curious.....

Welcome to the forum.. nice load of dubs you've been through.

That last point sounds daunting, don't know if it's possible, i'd say almost anything is but certainly not something I'd ever consider, sounds like it would be a right pain in the ass and don't think I could ever trust it.

Thanks for the welcome people

Re the ACC, yes I know it would be a real pain to fit etc, but I was wondering if it would be an option VW themselves might offer? I suppose I should really contact them.... sitting down..., with a brandy
