Hi Guys,
New to VWs and n/a track cars.
I've been jap turbo stuff until now and wanted a new direction so I bought a 3dr 16v mk3 and will set about it with the intention of lightening it where sensibly possible!
Nice solid cars, showing their age a bit but then still looking good when cleaned, I like it.
Came to the site after looking for parts on ebay and google shops.
Cheers

Welcome.
Not a lot you can do to lighten it really, go on a diet yourself is probably easier!

Hello, and welcome to the Forum

Welcome...
Interesting that you've gone from Turbo Jap to a mk3 valver..... the only way to lose some weight is to bi everything you don't need!

Thanks for the welcome :)
The 3 gets some grief for being the lardy older brother but it looks to me like there is plenty to get out of it and get to a sensible ptw ratio.
150/ton should be a goer with a little thought and a holesaw

There's a LOT to take out of them!
Whack a 4-branch on the back of the motor and maybe an induction kit and you may find you're closer to 170bhp.

Thanks, I haven't had a proper look around but I understand there are a couple of 3 builds to look out for.
I have the K&N, I have the catback supersprint so is there any particular manifold and decat I should be looking for?
This is budget racing so 4 figure price tags need not apply ;)
I'd appreciate a few pointers on the lightening as well please

Well I generally gob my own together, but most any 4-branch will better the lump of cast iron on the back of the motor at the moment.

Door bars weigh kilos. Knee bar under the dash might be able to leave and then pretty much anything else don't plan on using, can go
