I just lowered my gti by 35mm and when i'm driving in a straight line it is fine by when I turn the wheel it creates a loud knocking sound does any one know what it may be?

I though it mite be. If i buy some shorter drop links will this get rid of it?

Shorter drop links did naff all for me. Try an uprated arb with bigger hoops or one that goes under the driveshaft then you can go as low as you want :smiley:

The only problem with that is that i'm setting it up for racing and the regs says you have to use the stock arb

if your racing then dropping the car more wont be better for handling, wishbones horizontal works best. but if your insistent then do the regs say you have to have a roll bar? cos you could just remove it

Suspension setup/Coilovers are a factor, me and S-L-I-X have shortened droplinks (we cut them down and re-welded), his are a tad shorter. For him they did f-all and bought the ARB hoops a bit out of alignment in terms of contact (as they did for me). But his suspension is more bouncy even at a lower height setting so he still catches the ARB. In my case my coilovers are a lot stiffer and for the suspension to bounce enough for the driveshaft to hit the ARB is a lot harder as more force is required (plus I'm a tad higher).
Either get aftermarket droplinks shorten them a tad or leave them (ideally you need to have the arb disconnected to see whats better a shorter or longer link as then you can also see how the hoop effects it as the droplinks in place), afterwards raise your car accordingly to reduce ARB and driveshaft contact (mine is a nice height and I never knock anymore).
Otherwise get a new ARB, the R32 or TT ARB is meant to be a good choice.
But as advised at stock height the wishbones are horizontal which is ideal for handling.

Shorter droplinks worked for me in the end.
Take of standard links and rotate bar in its bushes till it gives its best clearance over the driveshafts, then you can measure how big your adjustable droplinks need to be.
Mine ended up 3.5 inches, think slix ended up similar?
You may have to cut down your adjustable ones, but for 35mm, i think you will be fine :afro:
