Hi all, for a wile my passenger side seat has had a little rock (movement) to it yesterday i desire to look in to it after i went for a trip to Ikea for these
(http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b179/wallace1984uk/IMAG0153.jpg)
best things to come out of Sweden ever [Y] and wile i was turning i could here the chair rocking so though would see whats the problem.
Any how!, i found that one of the wheels that sit in the runners had died a death so my Q is is there a giude to remving the wheel and replacing it, also a part number if possible for a new wheel if VW supple the wheel separably. If not i have a spare set of seats in storage i can take the wheel off so mainly looking for a guide to replace the damage wheel.
what it should look like [wheel nearest to the door]
the damaged wheel [nearest to handbrake]
as you can see the wheels destroyed
Thanks in advance
Mike

Dead easy to take the seats out mate, Im guessing it should be easy to replace the wheel once the seat is off the runners anyway.

so if VW don't sell the wheels which i doubt they well ill just strip it off them as i am guessing there the same size/fitting cant see why they wouldn't be just need to know if its as simple as it looks or do you need a special tool etc

you can buy the wheel seperately for about 3 quid. 1J0 882 260 A

Been so busy not made it to the dealer yet, was ment to be going Friday but my alternator pulley snaped off off so couldn't get to get it hopefully this weekend job

picked up the roller today from VW and looks like a very simple job of unbolting the old one and replacing, should be doing it Saturday/Sunday weather permitting and if i can find my socket set
(http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b179/wallace1984uk/SNV84305.jpg)

EPIC FAIL  today took seat out of the runner (didn't need to disconnect the Air bag as was careful when moving seat to get to the roller) and as you can see the old roller was a goner
(http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b179/wallace1984uk/IMAG0329.jpg)
so to started to remove it [used a T50 socket piece if any ones interested] and relised that the roller wheel nearest to the door was different from the roller which i was removing but it was the same they i had got from VW.
P/N for the roller nearest to the door 1J0 882 260 A and it looks like the P/N for the damaged one is 1J0 882 265 from what i could make out from what was left on the metal collar of the damaged one.
Can anyone confirm that's the P/N i need as i cant find if it is or not
Thanks

thats the part number for the bolt, last digit is 7 not 5.. get the sucker out of there and put the damn wheel on

it would appear so, but out of curiosity if you have the seat out anyway take the bolt from the outer wheel and try that with the new roller on the inner side. It seems odd that VW say there are 4 in total for the roller wheel separately :undecided:

the seat back in now, i did try the new one wile the seat was out and its the same as the outar roller i was going to put the new one on the outer roller wile it was off but going to say they ordered me the wrong one see if they well take it back and refund me on it when i get the new one.
So think its the 17F 1J0 882 270 B roller with shouldered nut ?

took a trip my my dads to take the part of my old seats which i have stored there only to find that they were foobard and heads striped on both seat so not happy as thought could take it off and not have to order it from the stealers now, last time i try being smart lol

finally got off my arse and round to ordring it, its on back order so a couple of weeks
-
Mine drivers side does similer to this if i sit in the seat and lift my self up then back down it moves about a cm or so ...... Quite off putting when going over rough road and the seat follows you when it gets a bit bouncy lol never thought to look at the wheel its self i was convinced it was the frame its self

Great, thanks I can finally sort my seat lol

Finally done,
fist disconnect the battery i waited 10mins
(http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b179/wallace1984uk/1seatfixmk4golf.jpg)
wile i was waiting i undid the two nuts located at teh front of the seat [13mm socket]
Then pushed the seat forward and pop the two screw covers off and undo the screw to remove the plastic covers
(http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b179/wallace1984uk/2seatfixmk4golf.jpg)
then i pushed the seat backwards holding the seat handle till it was out of the runners, at this point you CAN tilt the seat to disconnect the seat airbags cable
(http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b179/wallace1984uk/6seatfixmk4golf.jpg)
i didn't as i wasn't removing the seats then i pushed the top of the seat down so i could get to the roller
(http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b179/wallace1984uk/8seatfixmk4golf.jpg)
this was the culprit
(http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b179/wallace1984uk/9seatfixmk4golf.jpg)
then i took at T50 [but it looked like a multi spine but the T15 worked for me]
removed it fitted new roller
(http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b179/wallace1984uk/11seatfixmk4golf.jpg)
and reassemble in revers order.
Now people cant complain about my rocking seat

Good job! Glad you got it sorted. Did you clean out the channel the roller runs in? I'd recommend giving it a good clean out and apply a light film of grease to keep it running sweet!
