Seriously unhappy first detailing ever going smoothly, lime prime dojo juice got all tar of my car. About to wax then the heavens open...so I sh!t canned it for the rest of the day and drove it a mile or 2 to the shops. Am thinking of finishing it off tomorrow but should I be washing it, pre treating it etc or just go straight for the wax?
-
I would just give it a good wash down and dry, then apply the wax to a nice clean surface. Bet you got some cracking beading in the rain from the limeprime
-
The beading was savage. I could see it from my kitchen window while breaking things in anger of BBC weather lying to me about it not going to rain!!
-
I'm sure the pros will be along soon, but as above for me too, I'd just wash it with a mitt and wipe it dry with a drying cloth and then start on the wax.
-
Cheers gang! If BBC weather gets it wrong again I will be writing an angry letter. Ha.
-
just give it a wash down.. it'll be fine.
you'd probably find using a tar remover or clay easier than using polish to remover tar
-
wont the elements wash away the polish as it hasnt yet been protected?
id touch up the polish again before slapping on the wax just to make sure
-
polishing has its own oils in it so no wont wash away after few hours of rain.
best to use T+G(tardis) on a rag and wipe over the lower part of the panels then use the clay bar to remove whatever else.
best wash the car give it a quick once over then dry and apply your choice of wax., i take it you dont have a a garage as its best to leave atleast an hour inbetween coats of wax
