You will need a Bluetooth module installed, there are a few on eBay, not sure of the exact part nuber but someone on here will no doubt be along to help you out.

A picture of your new toy is needed

I have got the bluetooth module sat in the cupboard,  the one i took out of mine when i swapped it for the later module that works with the iphone 4, going cheap if you want it but you will need the loom and mic

as this is our first gti i thought if the buttons were on the steering wheel + the bigger radio screen it would have the bluetooth?

I am pretty certain that it hasn't got premium phone kit (it will have a shark fin)
The large screen stereos RCD OR RNS dont have bluetooth built in, it is an add on and the unit is under the drivers seat

shark fin not for Nav it is phone kit

You won't be disapointed it is a cracking car and gets better with age, had mine nearly 2 years now and still love it, and i get bored easily with cars

Looks a nice spec - you'll be very happy with that although Neil is slightly wrong - Black is the fastest colour

Back on topic. I added BT to mine - module, mike and cables all bought off ebay - total cost was around £130. Fitted it myself and just got the phone enabled in VCDS by one of the guys on here.

Let me know if you need anymore info.

Was told by my dealer that the 2011 models don,t have the sharks fin on the roof any more as the antenna is built into the rear window, as I specced it on mine

Now I'm probably being thick here, but how does the phone in your pocket connect to the aerial on the car? I would have thought the roof fin is for the sat nav and/or possibly DAB and the rear window aerial is for the radio.

My VW Bluetooth kit uses the phone to call so uses the iPhone aerial.

You can get aerials for the kit itself but this only works for the rsap type where the unit uses your sim but calls from the unit itself. Hope that makes sense?

When i picked my car up it had the sharkfin and i didn,t order Nav or DAB just ordered premium phone kit, as said above the stereo unit makes the call by copying the sim card via bluetooth
i now have the RNS led version with Nav but it is not connected to the sharkfin it has its own little gps reciever that sits inside the dash or stuck to the windscreen

I'm prob talking bollocks but it's something like that

You will need someone with vag.com  to enable the telephone on your gateway.

Your garage might do it for you if you ask them nicely.  Have you got the car yet? I got them to enable the telephone on mine when they PDI'd it so all I had to do was plug it in.

Whereabouts in the country are you as it is a 5 minute job for someone that has previously done it.

I'm sure someone on here will come forward and offer to help.

I don't have vag.com or I would have offered. The actual physical fitting of it is really straight forward.
