Well day 1 started on the Ferry from Hull which is only a 15 minute drive from my house
Got on at 6pm and sailed at 9pm a few beers and a steak in the restaurant started the trip nicely, got our head down and woke up in Rotterdam next morn at 7am, 20mins to get off the ferry and away we go, the roads over there are lovely smooth tarmac compared to ours, two n half hrs later we are at Spa and checking in at the Blu Raddison and meeting up with some other guys with Nobles, Had something to eat and a good natter and decided to go for a ride to the Ring for the night approx 1n half hrs away :smiley:had a good nosey round different veiwing areas etc and off too Pistonclaus for a famous steak on a stone
Back to Spa to get our head down and ready for the Closed 2 day trackday the following morn,
Up n out next morn for breifing and away we go, all i can say is this track is awesome and so easy to learn, Au Rouge is class i loved that part of the track, so many different cars out aswell and the Golf surprised a lot of expensive motors out there, excellent day and banter then off for a few beers n some nice food, day 2 pretty much the same but was raining in the morning which made it a bit more interesting
Stayed at Spa overnight then went to the Ring Following Morn to check in at the Dorint, which overlooks the Grand Prix track, veiw from our balcony was the start finish straight,
Convoy of Nobles 1 Gti and an M3 and off to the Ring to buy our lap cards, think it was about 340euros for a 15 lap card. i was a bit nervous and excited at the same time cos you hear so many storys about this track, i have never been before or done it on Playstation, so off i went for a couple of siteing laps :driver: This place is life changing, so many people say it but until you have been it is hard to explain, its just the nervous atmosphere that is about i think ?
We had 4 days at the ring and i did 15 laps and eat a ton of XXL burgers in Adenau and Steaks at pistonclaus :happy2: What a good crack this place is amazing and a proper lads roadtrip

^^^ Another good one to try is Pinocchio's Pizza in Adenau
I will have a look at those dates and see if they fit.
I normally rent a house about 10 mins from the Ring which is worth a look if you fancy somewhere different, has two quad car garages (one with a pit) and a women who comes in to makes your breakfast for €35 a night

The brakes have awesome stopping power and not grabby at all on the road or track,
The Noble boys couldn't beleive how quick the Little GTI was on track and when messing in convoys swapping places etc
mid range and top end the Nobs couldn't shake me off  most of them had 550bhp
Oh such fun

 and
Don't be shy....tell us your best time at the 'ring! Surely you were under 9 and a half minutes B to G?

The Green golf you have pictured was there when I was there too.

In London.

It would have been good to meet, ah well.
To be honest though guys you can hire pretty much anything you like at the ring. There are rent-a-racecar companies offering Scirocco and GTI based track cars (stripped, roll cage, bucket seats and DSG - probably to protect their engine more than to showcase the gearbox or help the driver).
Or if you fancy something smaller there are Suzuki Sport models with similar setups (minus DSG obv).
For rear wheel enthusiasts you can get old BMWs, 350zs etc.
And then there are more focused track cars like Caterhams and the like. There really is something for everyone.
BUT...
A standard GTI is more than up to it. So don't feel you have to rent. Part of the satisfaction for me is taking your own car round. The most important modification for going round the Ring is to the driver... and it's realising your not a racing driver (especially on your first laps).

First ever lap I did a 9'10" B to G and eventually after some practice and a few trips I got it down to 8'15" for a FULL lap.
Would have liked to have achieved a sub 8' full lap.
I'll take the Polo GTI at some point too - should get under 8'30" B to G with a few mods

Fastest I managed was a 9.07 however (here come the excuses :lipsrsealed:) the first straight (is it called Quiddelbach?) was reduced speed from about halfway down (50km/h) for roadworks. Some people ignored it but I didn't want any trouble so I just slowed and stuck on the right indicator. There was also alot of traffic as I exited the Carousel which made the following twisty section through the forest quite interesting (in a good way) and reduced the speed quite a bit.
I don't know how this would affect a laptime but I reckon without the hold ups and road works I'd be comfortably under the 9 minute mark BTG.
And the car was completely standard bar the remap. I'm actually more chuffed that the standard brakes held up so well.

Think the Golf has shrunk
