Hi Everyone,
About 2 weeks ago my golf's gearbox whent bang! on the motorway , I went to my local scrappy and picked up what he said was a gti 8v gearbox for £96. Now i would have got it from somewhere else but with work i didn't have any time to find a decent second hand box. So my local garage fitted the new gearbox and replaced the clutch aswell. The problem being that the gearbox is not from a gti so my speedo is all f**ked up, it's showing the wrong speed ( i think about 15mph faster than actual ). i'm not sure what to do about it. I'm thinking i could get the right set of clocks and fit the speedo into my cluster , not sure uf this is possible! or get a Gti box and fork out for the fitting again!
What does everyone think?
by the way the gearbox otherwies is fine, no crunches or difficult changes

just change the speedo drive on the gearbox end of the speedo cable. 10min job and will cost you about 75p for the speedo drive
there is only two speedo drives. a red one & white one so choosing the correct one is pretty straight forward
