Title: Stripping Front Seats
Post by: 8vSukhi on 08 July 2011, 13:55
Hi,

I've got some spare front seats that I need to take apart so that I can use them to repair the saggy bolsters on the seats fitted to my car.

I've removed the plastic side covers, removed the circlips, removed the seat adjustment knob and from there can't work out how to split the base from the backrest. Do I need to remove the large screw where they hinge (had a quick go very tight and very easy to damage screw head so didn't progress with that one)

I did read somewhere that once the circlips are off then it's just a case of jiggling the base/backrest about until the come apart. Tried that but had no joy.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Sukhi

Hi,

I've got 3 & 5 door seats that need stripping.

3 door seats lean them forward and take the clipoff and the seats will come apart...

5 door you have to remove the one fixed seat guide and screw - I use a 3/8th ratchet drive with a screw head attachment with a large bit to get leverage to free up the screw and then fold them forward like a 3 door seat.

Are you putting the 3 door seats back together or splitting them? I need the tilt levers and bits that make it tilt if you have them handy?
