I think I remember Shaun saying in his build thread that is was slightly more involved than other mks in that it required wings and slam panel.

Correct. :afro:

To accommodate the lights you'll need the front end off a donor car, bare in mind this is not a simple bolt on job as MK1's are fully welded!

You'll need:
Jetta front panel, Ideally part of the inner wings as they are slightly different due to indicator placement, New outer wings or at least the front corners for the same reason, and a bumper with no indicators holes.

Then you have the fun of grinding off your front panel and some inner wing area to weld on the new stuff.  Last time I saw a ready to use panel it was going for £200.

Oh and I know you have the skills to do it but haven't you finished your front end once already!

Is the USA Rabbit front an easier swap with smaller square headlights that fit in the grill?

There were a couple of variations.  This one is the same score as the above pretty much.

Where as this one which I prefer only needs the front panel

Bare in mind though that both will require the grilles, lights etc. I'm sure it won't be easy finding the bits required if you fancied it. US eBay/forums??
