Should be the same on all mk1s. How far out is it and are you 100% sure its for a mk1?

i bought it and it was listed as for mk1 gti from demon tweeks so i can only assume it's correct and it's the solid one it's a straight bar type the ones that had bends in them where listed as for the mk1.3 i believe, i would also assume that all the main chassis legs and the base of the mk1 woudl be the same apart from differences in cabriolet and 5door models or are they different ?

Right here goes, over time the chassis legs on mk1's spread apart, adjustable is easier as you fit it then pull the legs in, not so easy to fit a solid one.

so maybe lots of blood sweat and tears and maybe some heat to go with it then or give in and get an udjustable one

yep get an adjustable one unless you have equipment to pull legs back into line
