Title: what do worn bushes sound like?

got a kind of creaking noise coming from the front wheel area, assumed it was suspension to start with as it was only really when you rock the car it did it, but now its getting worse and is almost all the time when moving. Is this what worn bushes sound like, if not what could it be?

no fixed 40mm wietec's, cost me more than coilovers though :P

Does it make a sound when bouncing like a creak that goes with bouces?

thats how it started but now its almost constant when driving slowly (like 15-20mph), could also be when going faster but I cant hear it over engine and road noise

have you checked your top mounts?

Is be checking the top mount bearings first.

havn't checked them, but they were new VR spec only fitted last year, so pretty sure its not them  :huh: sounds like its coming from wheels though

if it was bushes worn on the bottom arms it would drive like sh!t, not handle as it should

gonna be working on the arches some more later tody so will try and investigate further, its tricky when I dont really know what im looking for though, or even what stuff would look like if it needed replacing :P

Poor handling will result. Also car may pull to one side usually as bushes wear unevenly.

This does not sound like your situation.

it seems to be coming from the drivers side suspension strut. I put the bonnet up and rocked it a bit and it doesnt seem to be coming from the top mount, but I'll check it thoroughly when I get more time. I guess this would mean dismantling the top of the strut?

Also, what could cause it to wear so quick and unevenly if it is the top mount? both were changed at the same time around a year ago and are VR spec on an 8v (1.8t now but the noise started before the conversion)
