Check the wiring on the throttle switch - when was the accelerator pedal cable replaced?

accelerator cable has never been replaced since i owned the car which is about 4 years now, but since owning it - about 2 years ago i replaced both fuel pumps, fuel pump housing with new hoses, fuel filter, fuel accumulator... even though there didnt seem anything wrong with metering head i replaced with a working second hand one, had co-emissions setup done recently at mot station and all seems to be running fine. although the parts being over 2 years old now should there still be concern for parts failure??
few weeks ago i had ignition timing done and car now gives 32.5mpg, is that ok?

as for the  accelerator cable what effect would it have with regards to symptoms?
