Right getting really peeed off with the state if my front lights! It's ridicules and getting to the point when I drive down country lanes in the dark it's almost dangerous!!
Basically I'm after a few tips of how to get them brighter. I know about relays but unless there's and "idiots guide" of how to do then seems a bit to technical for me!
Are there any bulbs that go well with the 0.00001 amps of power that go to them?!
And finally how do you adjust the hight of the light beam? I don't have the auto adjusters so need to adjust them manually.
HIDs are last resort but seem like the only reasonable way to get some light onto the road in front of me!

There are three adjuster knobs on the back of the headlight for beam alignment, or you can go to a friendly garage that does MOTs and get them to sort the alignment.
Don't go HIDs, as they are illegal, and will make you look like a c0ck, and everyone will get pi$$ed off at you blinding them all the time.
My car had HIDs when I bought it, swapped them out for some phillips 100% brighter bulbs. I don't miss the HID brightness at all, and like you I drive mainly on unlit country lanes.
The relay set up guide is in the mk2 section, but its basically a relay for each headlight that uses the original power supply for the bulb as the switch, a new earth and a power supply taken straight from the battery.

In GTi lights I actually found the 4000K spot on, looked like normal bulbs and honestly (although they were joey'd) didn't glare AT ALL. Vento and CL lights tho. :lipsrsealed:
But yeah don't do it and dat.

Ive got 6k HIDs in my Twin headlights and they are spot on no glare nothing but I do agree in a standard gti light they would blind people.
