Foolishly tried to change fuel filter on my 16V Mk2 GTi - and damaged the fuel pipes in and out of it in the process! They are now leaking badly. Argghhh! Can't source the pipes anywhere right now - any ideas anyone?

Is there a bit of slack? If so cut the buggered bit off.

They are not push fit pipes, they have unions made off on the ends. I'm not sure where to try really, you might find a scrap car with good enough ends to salvage the hoses off. Next time hold the union/ hard pipes with grips when you undo the banjos so they don't spin + tear

Thanks for the reply so far guys, both of which have given me a bit more confidence. I'll have another detailed look over the weekend - spent last Saturday lying under the car, might as well do this Saturday too! Any other responses or ideas gratefully accepted. As a newbie GTi owner but very long term fan of the car its good to see such a vibrant and helpful scene - regards.

Long shot as they may not help, but find your local Pirtek and see if they can match the ends if so they can make them.

Thanks Wayne - I hope it won't come to that but your advice is welcome. I've seen a couple of 'breakers' on ebay that may have the parts I need - I'm sure I'll get it sorted.

you cant just home repair them mate as fuel is at 5-6 bar, i had the same problem and hose clips and tube will not work, i got mine from stephens breakers in sussex iirc, make sure you get new copper washers for the unions otherwise you may have the devils own job trying to get the old ones to seal

Hi
And I got my copper washers from a Motorcycle shop.

Thanks to all. Did manage to source spares from a breaking vehicle - just bought the whole fuel pump/filter/accumulator assembly complete - haven't heard back from the mechanic yet but think its sorted. I'm sure I'll be back with other MK2 related questions though!
Thanks guys
