I am thinking of getting the roof on my white GTD wrapped in black, has anyone done this before and how does it look as ive never seen one before..

The whole point of wrapping is it's just as easy to remove it. Just look at all the new cars at dealers with vinyl graffics plastered all over them.

I think it's quite a reasonable question. There was a picture on here a few weeks ago of a white GTI with a black vinyl roof and it looked very nice indeed.
I'll have a look for it for you.

Gloss back roof on a White car looks good, Matt black is a bit :sick: and as it is removable the resale value is unaffected.

what that got to do with anything, the last time i saw the equivalent AUDI A3 and the BMW 1 series cost nearly the same depending on extras..

That's not strictly true when you can get into a decently speced 5 series for the same money as a Golf GTI. You can also have the BMW on your drive within a few weeks rather than many months waiting around for you VW order.

I have to say very I'm suprised at the treatment Fazz is getting on this normaly friendly forum. The guy has asked some questions that whilst some people might find lacking in taste he's done it in good faith (I think)
Time to give the guy a break IMO.

Gloss black roof on a white car looks :cool:
Alternatively get a photo of it with as much of the roof viewable as possible and put a request in the cosmetic section -> Virtual mods and see if someone can do various patterns/colours/gradients with it. Will give you a good idea just how it will sit with other mods on your car or other mods you plan. :smiley:

Black car with white roof looks good btw. Not something I'd do because I'm old and it would look like I was driving my son's car. It can look a bit naff when you do the bonnet as well though, looks like a half arsed repair job where the owner has bought second hand panels and not bothered to get them painted the correct colour.
At least with a bit of wrapping you can ditch it easily if you think it looks a bit pants.

The vast majority of Mk6 drivers (i.e. those on here) aren't teenagers any longer, apart from me (well, at least in my head) ! And so have a different sense of humour to those younger and older.
I'm sure the initial response was meant in a sarcastic manner, but the recipient didn't realise this at the time.
All the same, we here are a little sarcastic but have our own ways (due to old age, ahem Asker, Doc etc :wink: !!!)
But we all mean well, you simply have to 'read through the lines'. I think that our Doc meant that it may affect your re-sale value....maybe?
Personally, I have a white GiT but wouldn't do a black roof, but would do it on a white R (as the wing mirror shells are also black) and also would replace the black aerial with a white one (or spray it)....
But not a bad idea, I haven't seen it in the flesh yet

Thinking of doing the same to my red roof.
This company is pretty good. £150 for the roof, £60 for the door mirrors, £60 for the front spoiler chin, approximately.

Sound like I've upset you for which I'm sorry, I just saw the screamer post go down hill fast for obvious reasons but if you cant see the obvious in that post I'm lost :smiley:, that post was quickly followed by this post and I put two and two together and maybe made 5? - the guy (?) still hasn't done any intro etc so it looks whiffy to me and my job is to seek out whiffy and warn members or eliminate it.
