i been qouted £175 labour ,and £250 for vw parts to change a cambelt and steering pulley and all belts etc ,is this the right price for a vw mech doing a private job, and should the water pump be done at the same time although its ok
-
Parts sound about right :undecided:
For the sake of the £30odd quid for the water pump its worth doing at the same time for peace of mind
You don't hear of water pump failures on the TDI's but equally you don't want to be one of them

great thanks will get that done to
-
Sounds about right tbh :afro:

To be honest, after seeing whats involved in changing the cam belt £175 labour sounds quite cheap.
VAG Parts at trade price for the cam belt will be around £70 for the belt and tensioner, £25 for the water pump (with a £45 surcharge!), the other belt is about £15.

Wow, luckily i got mates rates on parts and labour which ended up at £195 all in.
Aux belt pushed it up to £210 though lol.

No point in going to VW with old cars ..costs way to much ..i buy my parts from there & get an ex VW mechanic to fit it

I paid £205 for genuine parts and fitting cambelt tensioner and waterpump and G12++ coolant
