GTI is not for you, if it's mpg your worried about
-
Had my Gti bout 16 months, my average mpg is 30. Costing me bout 20p per mile and getting on average 300 miles to the tank. I mainly do short journeys and work is only 10 miles away.
-
we get 33mpg with varied driving
which is approx 380 to tank.
-
My mk5 gti returned 25 mpg ish
-
I have no idea what my Mapped GTI does to the gallon.......

i also see you have the same warning light regarding a bulb that's out, mines been like it since it came out of VW for a service, intermittant fault, according to VW every bulb will need replacing when i next give them a visit......
Although they will do it for free.
-
It tells you what bulb is out, it was just my revers light. Changed all sorted now.
-
normally I would get around 360 miles to a tak however recently whenever I brim it the computer would show over 400 miles.
I reality expect it to return around 300 to 350 to a full tank.
-
Bout 31mpg mixed. Can't afford to take it out after having wiesels..
-
My remapped MK5 will do 27-29 around town. 30 - 35 on the motorway (all depending on how much of a rush I'm in).
I've done several journeys op norf recently and sat at 80 - 85 and only just sneaked into the 30s. Sit at 70 and you'll get 34-35 easily.
As Chuff very rightly says, GTI shouldnt be driven with MPG in mind. First year of owning her I used to keep it the trip comp on the MPG reading. Now I try not and just enjoy the car and fill her up when she needs it. Still check it now and again thought to make sure we are all ok lol :D
Just try and enjoy her.

Over the last 2,800 miles, 31.4 mpg . Amazing for a superchipped sports car that doubles up as a shopper. Drove to Silverstone and back in my diesel this weekend, 21mpg
-
My last three tanks have been around 38mpg (long work commuting runs).
This drops to 25mpg with constant town driving or 40mpg with constant motorwar driving.
-
40 MPG !? HOW!? I've done several stints around the M25 stuck doing 50 and the highest I've NEVER seen my car in 3 years of ownership go above 37.X (something).
-
26-30 But who cares!!

Actually I don't know. It was a trip to Heathrow, through the long roadworks (50mph) at the top
of the M25. Together with normal commuting resulted in 40mpg (measured using the brim/odometer method).
I've seen plenty of other posters claiming even higher MPG, but my max is 40.
My car is manual, running 17"s and I always keep a close watch on tyre pressures.
