Title: How heavy is an 8V engine and an engine and box?

Wanna buy an engine stand. Need to know the wieght because I'm just gonna winch it up aslong as the garage walls hold.  :grin:

Having just taken mine out, I reckon its in the region of about 200+ kilos. Was on a pallet and I could just about pull it.

me and my dad managed to get one in and out of the back of a land rover so I reckon maybe a bit lighter than that but not far off

I'm going to have a rough guess and say it's about 160kg. Was more or less the same as what I used to lift at the gym.

If you could actually get hold of it it is possible to lift it on your own! But coz of size etc its impossible.

I picked up a bare VR6 block once, trust me that is heavy  :grin:

I managed to 'walk' one up a ramp and into the back of a van, and i am built like a stick insect.

Apparently he picked up and chucked the engine on a trolley.  :grin:

No gearbox.

2 people can pick up an 8v or 16v engine however if fitted with a gearbox it is better to use an engine crane.

Dunno how I'm getting it back in.  :grin:

Dunno whether to stick it all together on the subframe then jack it up into the shell or just put the engine in last seperate with a winch.
