Title: Mk3 GTi gear issue
Post by: 95gti8v on 04 July 2011, 15:23
This just seemed to start all of sudden. I've replaced clutch cable (genuine) and gear oil (quantum) it helped but still not great. Main issue is going into first once car heats up a bit, will normally glide in from second ok but have to double clutch sometimes to get in from another gear. Or go way over then up into first.

Any ideas folks??

Its pretty standard for this to happen tbh. The syncro from first to second isnt very strong, and you have to be almost at a complete standstill to select first when gliding to a stop. I have just adapted to it now.

This is normal and like it on most cars. Should be at a stop when selecting first really. Can force it in with pressure, habbit I have but a bad one.
