Title: What audio
Post by: richie2480 on 04 July 2011, 00:01
Hi all, I have got myself a mk2 golf this weekend. The audio was removed (head unit, 2x amps, 1 x sub). The 2 subs were set up in the rear quarters behind the rear seat side panels. 1x running front speakers and sub and the other running rear speakers. Now I know f*** all about installs and so don't know what I will need. I do want the same set up because all the cables lead to the rear seat panels. But not a big boombastic, window shattering set. I want nice sound quality so I can listen to my classical music. Yes, sub but not massive, yes amps for speakers but not huge ones. Any ideas guys?

HU. single CD by a big nam brand, not fookin ripspeed or the like. Or look for second hand nakamichi if SQ is your goal.
Components. CDT, HAT, PHD, and I've forgotten the rest of the big names but aim for 50-100wrms.
Comp amp. Genesis, PHD. Best sounding amp I had was 1 PHD 2100 but a bit meaty for you probably.
Sub. Loads to choose from. Go for single 10 or 12 in sealed enclosure. Around 500wrms
Sub amp. 500wrms at 2 or 4 ohms then match up sub.
Sound deadening. You'll be amazed at how doing this affects the sound in the car.

Try having a look for all that to start with.
