First of all I spent most of the day washing and polishing the beast, only to find a gazzilion stone chips, two wheels with whiteworm and because it was too warm the wax was being a pain to take off. The problem is the white worm, how do you go for warrenty claims on white worm on a car thats 1 year and 2 months old? How do you prove you didn't damage the wheels and it was poor workman ship that caused it? Photos to follow.
Any how, this is how the car feels (Aged):

If the surface of the lac is not broken due to a stone chip for example they will replace the wheel. Thats what rules they went by for the wheels on my SEAT. Many others here have had theres replaced so the dealers are use to dealing with the claims.
-
Part of the course driving on horrible UK roads.
No car is immune.
Now whiteworm is another matter. It's a warranty issue. Hope the wheels are not kerbed as VW might say such damage is the cause when you make your claim.
All the best.

Actually the wheels are virtually immaculate Well apart from the tar spots. Grrrr. I was called mr squeeky by a 4 year old next to for rubbing on the paint work eek eek eek blooming tar spots. They have never been kerbed. (Thanks Bridgestone and careful driving). Will have to take photos tomorrow and post them up here.

You'll get them replaced under warranty without much quibbling. PITA.
Bridgestones have 5.5 mm rim protection. No other tyre to my knowledge comes close.
But it's a crap tyre.
Doc says his new and fabulous Goodyear Asymmetric 2s are very good for this too.

The Goodyears are my next tyre for sure, I still have that noise that I think is the rear tyre Dunlops wearing unevenly. There is still quite a bit of tread left but I might get the tyres to see if it fixes it.
Can't be bothered to get the dealer to look at it as he'll probobly not hear the noise!

yes because worms look so much like bees
-
Definitely get onto the dealers about this. My MKV GTI Monzas were infested with it but I left it too late to report it, they'd have replaced the wheels if the car was still inside warranty. I'll be watching my vancouvers like a hawk.

Gilly:
Bzzzzzzzzzzz....
-
yeah they don't look stoned chipped or anything, it looks like creep from the edges where maybe the paint is thinner. If they could replace them with plain silver non-polished Vancouvers that would be good, didnt realise they were polished on every other spoke in the first place.

What's white worm?
-
What's white worm?
its a common problem that effects polished face wheels. Appears behind the polished face as a squiggly white line.. thats where the term white worm comes from. If left it will just continue to grow. :nerd:
-
White worm?
No idea what you are going on about.
It must be one of those ailments that only affects the larger wheeled amongst us.
-
Went to VW Cheltenham looks like two new wheels, they will phone me monday to confirm.
-
Wheels being ordered tomorrow morning to be replaced under warrenty.
-
Glad to hear it.
-
Glad they have sorted the wheels out for you.
I know what you also meen about the stone chips mine has quite a few now on the front. I even got a large stone chip this morning on the panel above the fuel filler flap in direct eyeline right down to the metal. When an idiot in a fiat came past on the hashed part of the road and kicked a stone up.
-
Dont get me started on bloody stone chips. Picked car up on Wednesday. Newly sprayed bonnet. Drove to Bristol on the Friday for Volksfest and got a nice new stone chip on the bonnet AAARRRGGGHH !!!

The paint so bloody soft on cars these days. I've got a few on mine now. I'm gonna have a go at just touching the chips in my self.
Anyone on here used chipex?

looks interesting, if it works and lasts like paint.

Yeh chipex gets some reasonably good reviews on other forums.
Remeber its 'chipex' not 'tipp-ex' ( although I probably could get away with tipp-ex seeing as I've got a CW )
p.s. Chipex seem to offer other forums a 15% discount. So maybe one of the moderators on here could contact them and strike a deal for us lot....?
