Hi i just recently bought a mk3 gti 2ltr 8v and one of the problems with it is the back box if hitting the bumper i have looked at it and i do believe it is the wrong backbox that is fitted, i have had a look around and i am not sure if a factory standard box should have 1 tail pipe or 2 tail pipes? i know sounds like a silly question but i just need to know, lol
Cheers

Im pretty sure all mk3 gtis have twin exit back boxes as standard..

Thats what i thought

Twin exit downswept, if it's hitting the bumper it must be aftermarket but its easy to adjust as the mounts are bolted on so can be shimmed to adjust.

all should have 2 pipes... but they were a 1 piece exhaust from the factory, and the after market split it into 3 pieces (but at different places down the pipe!)
I would say it's most likely 2 different makes of exhaust not mating up correctly. but a good exhaust fitter should be able to either slot them together so the angles right or possible move /bend the hangers (with some heat)

most gti back-box's are twin ports but have seen single 1's as well on some mk3 gti's.
