And you started this because?
Is it yours!?
-
started because i was bored and it's something a bit diffrent and unusual - i like diffrent and unusual engines and curious to see how long it'd take for someone to recognise one.
is it mine - hell no. if i had the cash to buy one of them id have spent it rebuilding the drake engine.

-
looks like a washing machine..or a wankel?
-
Is it one of them two stroke engines? Starts with "T" can't remember the name!
-

Correct on the engine, so for bonus points, what car other than a beetle was this fitted to as standard up front? Not a Polo.

also it doesn't come up with the option to open a new tab when i right click.
although im on Firefox it may be different
-
Guessing it's a 356 motor with some home brewed single/quad carb'd setup
-
Engines Plural
-
Fittipaldi’s Beetle, twinned engine type1
-
two flat fours then?
-
Fittipaldis Beetle
Damn you!
Just beat me to it.
Two 1.3 engines, bored to 1.6 and mated to a porsche gear box.

-
Golf Blue E Motion?
I had to fiddle with the link to get the pic, so it may not be the right one.
-
Two pic's for you, not VW though but a very interesting engine:
Cutaway first
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v103/Spuff_Monkey/cutaway.gif)
Think this one needs a rebuild, yup that's a supercharger stuck on the end
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v103/Spuff_Monkey/random.jpg)
-
I think I've seen that before, it's a diesel 2 stroke... Can't remember what from though.
-
getting warm
-
 tut, you can't post that here.
-
Commer TS3.
Fantastic bit of kit.
-
On the nose, check this vid and others. For a 50 year old design and diesel they sound awesome:

-
I worked on the fuel pump relatives that were used on this. Big old inline pumps, noisey bastids, and they were the things making most of the noise not that actual engine themselves. :nerd:
-
How about this?
It's in a VW...

Some Wartburg or Trabant engine.

Haven't a clue!
The finished article is actually pretty cool though, it's had a lot of work done on the shell and the interior is cool as hell.

Like it overall but not on those wheels.
-
VW and Trabant parts bin raided there, well executed though. Sounds awful!
Funny how UK style plates are cool over there, wherever that is.
-

Agreed, 17s are way too big for an old skool inspired Mk2.
However, Merc Segins look the nuts on newer metal imho.

Porsche 3.2 boxer?
-
Nope  though the cooling could be.
-
Looks like a 911 2.4L flat 6.
-
It's gotta be aircooled porsche.
-
Anything Porsche stops at the cooling arrangement.
Might be a bit obscure, more of a clue it's a bit of Uncle Sam meets Germanic Engineering.
-
Could it be the "unsafe at any speed" Corvair?
-
Could it be the "unsafe at any speed" Corvair?

All I remember is it being in a bright green octavia...
Is it a hybrid?
The bright green suggests to me that's what they were getting at.
