i have just bought a set of polished audi pepperpots for my mk2 8v and im not really a polish guru so i wanted your advice on what is the best stuff to buy to polish these with, and how to go about it

That'd depend what condition they are to start with, pitting? have they been lacquered? etc...
If they're decent to start with and bare metal, try autosol or peek
-
they're pretty much 100% perfect already, just surface isn't as shiny as could be really fine surface scratches (you can't feel them though if you run your finger over them)
-
autosol, peek, megs metal polish are all good metal polishes. Seal after then put a high temperature wax on. to remove the very fine scratches you'll need a mop on a drill, dremel, etc something like that. onhly a very soft one though
