Was just thinking today how i always said i would get a Blue Golf Mk2 GTi but 3 cars later i still havent lol. Ive had my mums clio, mk4 2.0gti and recently purchase a 1.8T mk4.
But i have always said 'if i ever win the lottery' i would buy a mk2 gti and put an r32 engine in it however i cant see myself ever winning the lottery
But can still dream
So what car have you always wanted? Have you been lucky enough to have it or driven it?
:afro:

Thats ok everyone has a different taste. I wont mention the word beginning with b and ending in t
So if anyone knows the lottery numbers for friday, sat, wed, tues just anyday really that would be great  :afro:

I'd like an RS4 Avant. Something about a nice looking, quick car with loads of room for the dog or a wardrobe in the back really appeals to me.
-

VW Gol Shooting Brake

Karmann Ghia
Civic Shuttle

I'm not digging at you, but just a little surprised that you have picked a handful of dreadful cars (imo) from America's undoubtably very worst decade, apart from the Blazer, the cars that you have mentioned would have been strangulated anti smog cars, low HP and shocking build quality, yet 10 or 20 years earlier, American cars were at there very best, regards power and looks...

Thom
May I ask, have you ever owned one?
Regards power, 10 or 20 years earlier they had even less under power, they're at their best now regarding power.
I wouldn't say they're low HP, for average cars, they were around 240bhp, but it's all about torque as they're 350-400ft/lb, now they're pushing out alot more power.
They handle better than people think they do, usually people who've never driven one, let alone own one.
My Corvette I had surprised alot of people who were on the same bandwagon, with its power and handling, which was all standard.
Plus I picked cars I can afford.

no arguments please :wink::grin:

A mk2 golf. Owned two but want another!
Yeah I fancy another one.
-
I need a local person with a mk2 to see if one will fit in the garage!
-
Realistically, a 911 circa 1985 in black with the 5 speed box a very tidy 968CS or an E34 M5 touring. Otherwise, money no object an F40 or a 288GTO with a test drive making the decision (yeah right, it would be both lol). Id also have to rent a Mclaren F1 and a Bugatti EB110 SS.
-
Astra GTE
Escort RST
Cavalier GSI
Sierra Cossworth
Out of the price bracket is;
Lamborghini Countach
Lamborghini Diablo
Lamborghini Gallardo
Some like Ferraris, some like lambos, you can see what I prefer! Ferraris are too common and too showy for my liking. If you want a proper supercar, its got to be a bit mental like Lamborghini make it!
Some may ask why the GTE GSi, well a mates brother whilst I was at school had one and took us out a few times, and I loved it from then! GSi, my old man had one and I loved it too. Got pinched 3 times in 2 years though!
Edited: Oh nearly forgot this one, a Lotus Carlton.

No, never owned one (my choice) But have rebuilt, re-sprayed, built to race car spec, many American cars.... Mustangs, Corvettes, a couple of Stingrays, and have friends with C5's/C6's Dodge Charger, and numerous Hot Rods and Drag cars etc etc, and driven pretty much all of them at some point, I also know, and have met many fantastic people both here, and in the States, so yes, I would say that I know more than most people about American cars, and their history, in fact, I'm an anorak
Your explanation seems fair enough, just took me by surprise, thats all...
And my favs would be strictly from the 60s, and early 70s...
68 Yenko Camaro
70 Superbird
67 Shelby GT350
Thom

Well, it's my realistic wish list of cars that I can afford. I woudn't really want to spend 20k + on any car at the moment. If it was a case of wanting any car, then yeah the 60s and 70s are pure lush, but the 80s cars still strike a note with me and are alot cheaper.

Hi Thom,
Every panel you see in my pics are just plugs, once i have used them to make my molds they will all be destroyed. All panels will then be made in carbon kevelar hybrid.

Thought so, I built this about 4 years ago now, no molds available, had to do almost everything from scratch, 4 months of solid FG work, and hated every minute of it, built everything around the windscreen, as this was the only thing that I couldn't change! the car is a 69 Lola T70, I have a feeling that Ive shown you these pics before?

Thom,
The Lola T70 is my second all time favourite car! I dont think i have ever seen your pictures before, i'd very much like to see them if you have more?
No use to you now Thom but a company called MDA (I think) have molds for the Lola T70, I was chatting to the owner back around 2005-6 at Brands hatch, They built the GT40's that got used in a display outside the Goodwood festival of speed.

It will be built onto a Lotus Esprit chassis, which will be perfectly capable of handling similar power to the original 478bhp. Hopefully that power will come from a 4.2 Jag supercharged v8.
