Title: Oil Pressure Sender MK2 golf g60
Post by: delirical on 30 June 2011, 14:53
I have all my VDO guages fitted and working but..

I think i may have the wrong VDO sender, this is the one i purchased:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VDO-OIL-PRESSURE-SENDER-/220806153092?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3369128384

When you accelerate the guage climbes to about 3 bar but when you cruising along it drops to about 0.5 bar and the oil light flashes on but goes off again when you accelerate or when engine braking (under load)

The light never came on before the two pole sender was fitted, so do i have the wrong 'bar' sender as the one i have is 10bar...?

Please help as the oil light flashing is very annoying!

did you fit the sender to the head or oil filter housing?

When cold it should be near max then drop down once warm.

Fitted it to the head, checked again and when cold it is 3-4bar but when warm it drops to 0.5 and the oil light on the dash starts flashing.

Iirc you should put a 5 bar sensor on the head. Could always try putting it on oil filter housing instead.
