Right, following this thread http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=186440.0
Are any of you mk6'ers planning a visit to the event? http://www.autometrix.co.uk/trackdays.html
It would be good to meet up with a few of you to chat mk6 specific stuff as well as meeting a load of the other guys off the forum and also catching up with a few of the guys I've not seen for a few years.
And now before any of the Globals throw a hissy fit at this thread it is mk6 specific as I'd like to have a nose at the reverse camera and where the wiring goes and the original wiring on factory fit xenons with retro-fits in mind if anyone attending has these fitted.
For those that have never been before, have a good read of the thread in the meets section and post up in there, but to give you a feel for the event; it's a bit like Inters (run by the same people) but it's at a live race-track and is on a much much smaller scale than Inters.
There's usually a good presence of trade stands and there are always deals going, especially remaps and the like. Plus there's a show'n'shine and other VW show type stuff.
It's always a nice atmosphere, less barryboys than at Inters and it's a good place to meet up with people as it's quite compact (apart from when you're wandering around the track).

Echo those comments
I've organised the club stand for the last 3 years and we've always had a good turnout and a cracking day; especially when you watch someone total expensive machinery like an R36 Passat like last year
-
I'm thinking of going mate just need to check if the wife has any plans for me! I go I can buy you a pie for helping out with the maps for my RNS
You can also look at my reversing camera
Jim
-
It'd be great to meet you Jim, and to see the car.
See if there's any spaces left on the forum stand and then the mk3 boys will have two of us to take the piss out of!!!

Plenty of space left; currently no MK3's on the stand but they'll be enough of us to take the piss out of you
-
I'd like to go. Bomb down the M4 and viola!
Only problemo might be I would have just undergone surgery on my left rotator cuff. Might have to go by helicopter instead which negates the whole purpose.
I wonder if I can retro-fit a shoulder joint?
-
I am booked in for the track day part of this

Anyway's will introduce myself whatever I come down in - John

Very nice, I like the GTI wanna-be and the GTD is nice too
Like the Brembo's on the GTD too.

Well, John (jmspear), take your pick on which car to bring. The GTD would look great on the forum stand and the Porsche would be great anywhere! It'd be good to meet you and have a nose at either car!
And a *BUMP* as only a week and a bit to go now, make your excuses to your other halves and come and support the forum and have a chat. It's always a laugh watching the cars go round the track, even if you're not participating.

Excuse given "as I missed GTI International can i go out and watch a load of people thrashing the hell out of their small family cars?"
Permission granted.

Unfortunately, as luck would have it and now I am a bit p!ssed off, I'll have to do 3 Heathrow runs as friends and family descend on me on that very day. Could they have not chosen another day out of the 365? I was all psyched up to arrive there in all my glory and give you all a shock. Damn and blast.

Ahh well Asker, at least you'll have some company to distract you from the fun you'd have been missing at Combe!
We weren't really expecting you to grace the event though as it would be a bit much straight after a shoulder operation. Some of the ground there is a bit 'rough'.Think i might have to pop down to this one
Should be fun
Good effort! Will keep an eye out for the red beast.
-
Bump!
Time to get your shore pass from the 'significant other' and do a little sun dance around your next door neighbour's pergola, only a few days left.
Roll up!

Just in case you guys miss it here are the details for meeting up to ensure you get your stand passes on the day :afro:

We'll forgive you Martin.
After all you do have a valid excuse, I mean just how would you manage to spend your late evenings without 'Red Hot Viewers Wives'? No slumming it with mere Freeview for you.

Pictures = None. Didn't take a camera and it pissed down all morning anyway. My photography skills are zero.
Gossip = Met up with Jim and jmsheahan from the forum, we walked, we talked, I was tired from having been at work all night so was probably just spouting my usual twaddle. Only 3 mk6 GTIs there plus the Milltek Golf R (so two silver and two white mk6s). The show was very quiet but was still good. We got piss wet in the morning yet I came home with a sunburn and half the skin falling off my nose thanks to the combined efforts of the sun and my manflu. Some excellent cars and driving on the track but we elected to merely spectate rather than try and blag rides.
Interesting car of the day had to be the 6N Polo with the electric forklift truck engine. Silent apart from the sound of wheelspin when the driver put his foot down!!
