hi, my 2l gti keeps dying on me on a daily basis.
there is no warning when this happens, but you no its gonna happen on every trip. i fitted a K&N cone filter a few months ago but cant see how that would cause this issue, ive since put the original airbox back on. I also fixed a hissing noise comming from the servo which i thought would cure the problem but no such luck, I dont think its an air problem so could only be fuel or electric?, When the car cuts out, the ignition lights stay on, it takes a few minuits befor the car will fire up again. It sometimes cuts out but then jumps back to life just as i reach for the hazard switch.
What do you suggest??

btw, thanks for the tip ShelaghGti

cheeky bastard!!
i would do a search mate but sounds like crank sensor or coil pack ;)
-
I had exactly the same. If it starts up again once the coil has cooled down then I'd say coil.
-
yeah, i went through 3 in a row on mine!
-
crank speed sensor.

The ECU & fuel pump relays are the two most common ones to fail.
-
I have to 2nd that one. ECU Relay #30 (Older problematic ones are white, newer ones are black)

Mine are shiny metal
