Title: Can anybody help with a little problem

Well after 2 years of careful driving my mk2 8v is nearly dead, I know this as I got overtaken by an A4 this week :sick:
To sort this problem out iv got a 2L 16v ABF in the shed, got carbs but just need a mk2 16v engine loom end ecu and was wondering if anybody either has or knows for these cos id really like to have the car ready for the vag day at coombe.
Any help wud be great.

why do you need a mk2 16v loom ?? all you need is mk3 ABF engine loom and the mk2 lighting loom

Cause he wants to go carbs so the MKII 16v loom is a better fit.

In that case it would better to stick with injection.

Yuck injection is a dirty word :grin: tis an 8v at the mo, altho sounds like less when running.
Goin carbs as thats what I want it to run on, gotta luv the noise too!

Noise is one thing but they murder fuel and are a pain to keep in tune.

Fuel yes, but keeping in tune is a bit of a myth. Like anything, if you keep it serviced they're fine. I used to run loads of minis and even the ones running twin SU's didn't go out of tune. CArbs are fun as well, certianly more fun than messing with laptops and mapping software.

Only murder fuel when set up poorly by a noob that doesnt understand them!

I do understand them, spents lots of time with Weber and SU carbs, and they can and do tend to need looking after.

sounds like general weekly checks to me, altho the bike carbs you can pretty much set and forget

Got my car back from the rolling road :grin: 160hp yes kids thats at the wheels and it sounds awsome!

160 bhp ATW   from a stock ABF on carbs   it's obviously makeing good power but it think the rollers chould be a bit optomistic

R1 carbs with major work to them, a full race manifold with home made system ( im a welder+fabricator by trade) and loooots of time on the rollers  :grin: surprised the chap who set it up as he said the motor is super strong and wants the car back to raise the rev limit cos he reckons he can eek another 10-12hp out of it as it just keeps pulling. The chap builds race and rally cars so he knows his stuff
