Well after 2 years of careful driving my mk2 8v is nearly dead, I know this as I got overtaken by an A4 this week
To sort this problem out iv got a 2L 16v ABF in the shed, got carbs but just need a mk2 16v engine loom end ecu and was wondering if anybody either has or knows for these cos id really like to have the car ready for the vag day at coombe.
Any help wud be great.
Cheers

why do you need a mk2 16v loom ?? all you need is mk3 ABF engine loom and the mk2 lighting loom
-
Cause he wants to go carbs so the MKII 16v loom is a better fit.

Is the 8v carb or injection at the moment.

If it''s the one I saw at VF it was a GTI me thinks

In that case it would better to stick with injection.

Yuck injection is a dirty word  tis an 8v at the mo, altho sounds like less when running.
Goin carbs as thats what I want it to run on, gotta luv the noise too!

Noise is one thing but they murder fuel and are a pain to keep in tune.

Fuel yes, but keeping in tune is a bit of a myth. Like anything, if you keep it serviced they're fine. I used to run loads of minis and even the ones running twin SU's didn't go out of tune. CArbs are fun as well, certianly more fun than messing with laptops and mapping software.

True there Nick its a real bad myth, ran my minis fine on carbs even my 16v mini that ran R1 bike carbs!
Only murder fuel when set up poorly by a noob that doesnt understand them!

I do understand them, spents lots of time with Weber and SU carbs, and they can and do tend to need looking after.

sounds like general weekly checks to me, altho the bike carbs you can pretty much set and forget

Got my car back from the rolling road  160hp yes kids thats at the wheels and it sounds awsome!
-
160 bhp ATW from a stock ABF on carbs it's obviously makeing good power but it think the rollers chould be a bit optomistic
-
where did you go farmerboy?
-
He's been busy waiting for his car. He's got it back now.
-
Thats good figures what carbs and setup you use ??
-
R1 carbs with major work to them, a full race manifold with home made system ( im a welder+fabricator by trade) and loooots of time on the rollers  surprised the chap who set it up as he said the motor is super strong and wants the car back to raise the rev limit cos he reckons he can eek another 10-12hp out of it as it just keeps pulling. The chap builds race and rally cars so he knows his stuff
