My mate at work has a seat ibiza gti 8v 1997. After coming for a ride in my mk4 with the panel filter fitted he has asked me to order him one. I just wanted to check that the ibiza airbox is the same as the golf one?! I know it may be a stupid question but I wanted to check as the only ibiza filters I can find look a different shape??!!

Cheers for the help! Ive ordered him a golf one (AGG).
It turns out that the image I was looking at for the ibiza one was a generic image anyway, but it was still a couple of quid more expensive than the golf one

Was your mate really that impressed by the noticeable difference the air filter made to your Golf?

Well, I dont mean he was blown away by it  But, if youre servicing your car, you might as well spend a few quid on a decent filter as opposed to just replacing the pattern crap thats already in there. There is a slight difference in the speed at which it picks up from low revs anyway so I think its worth it. Every little helps.

It is the same, fitted it today. Just so you know

Ok, thats wrong,I took it out of the box and offered it up to the air box. It looked spot on so I left it with him.
Just had a phonecall saying that its too wide. :embarassed: :embarassed:
I took a risk in ordering a golf one so I could save him a couple of quid and its backfired. Bugger.
I'll email the seller now and see if theres anything he can do for me.
Anyone want a brand new pipercross filter for £32 posted??

When he says its too big, is it way too big or just a few mms? ie. a tight squeeze?
I say this because in my experience and from what I've read, Pipercross filters are always a tight squeeze (in other words they are manufactured a few mms too large  ) and you haev to really squidge it into the airbox and then clamp the lid down on it before it can pop up again. Thats what I had to do on my mk3 16v.. tell him to try that if thats the case

Cheers, I rang him after I read this to make sure but he said its definitely not the right size. :embarassed:
Now I can see me having to order him another and try n sell this one. I doubt the seller will have any sympathy for me as I tried to order a golf filter for a seat ibiza
