hia, im shelagh 39 from south wales
bought my 5th gti ( 2nd mk3)R reg, last week, and im in love. has a few issues ( 3 windows not working, steering squealing,DS trim silconed on ( wheres the need!) , and 140k on the clock) its clean and tidy on the inside, few scrapes and couple of rust spots and could do with a good polish, but im looking forward to having one of the coolest cars around :D ( midlife crisis i reckon lol), cash is a bit tight at the moment, so the kids are gonna have to get used to beans on toast with a glass of water for a while
been out all afternoon with the door cards off trying to fix the window issue, no luck, but bugger paying someone £100+ to sort it, i will find the answer and i will fix it myself!( eventually lol)
got a wish list as long as my arm, and getting longer whilst drooling over pictures on this forum (good job im already divorced really lol)
anyway, just wanted to say hi,the cars in my sig,no mods at the moment apart from button start.. but all thats gonna change
fab forum you have here, lovely to be a member :)

Welcome along! Keep trying with the windows, its bound to be something simple.
I presume youve checked the fuses and that the wiring is intact?!
Good choice of motor anyway, I love the mk3!!

thanks :)
yep i tried every fuse , all fine, couldn't find a single snapped wire ( was really hoping it was going to be that simple lol) didnt mess with the relay fuses as i dont know what is what ( i did jiggle them about though just incase 1 was loose- will have to try and locate some sort of chart for them so i can understand them) but i have no intentions of giving up just yet :)

hi and welcome!
could you try with a probe and give a direct 12v just to make sure the motors are ok?
also maybe try and put a mutli meter on the switch to make sure u have what u should have.
