Title: Looking at buying a MK5 Golf GTI, please advise!

Helloooo

Looking at getting a MK5 golf GTI, i currently drive a fiat punto GT and looking at something a tad more reliable and comfortable with more features!
I'd love one in white, preferably with the extra's, leather seats etc

Can anyone tell me how much i should be looking to spend, i'd say my budget is a max of £8000, is that reasonable?
What, if any, common problems should i check for?
