Title: MK2 16V warm up regulator

Hi Guys
I posted a message a while ago regarding the poor cold running of my H plate valver. The general consensus seemed to be to suspect my warm up regulator. It's since been to the garage to have it's rattly camchain replaced along with a new set of tappets and cambelt. While in there they noticed that I had a slightly leaky injector so had those cleaned at the same time thinking it would solve my problem............of course it didn't!!!!
As I don't know for sure if the regulator is to blame I don't really want to spend ?80 on one just to try it. I've heard that XR3i's have the bosch k-jetronic system and therefore the same regulator. I happen to know where I can get one of these for next to nothing (lets face it you could get the whole car for next to nothing  ;) ) Can anybody confirm the ford uses the same regulator? Does anybody know of any reason why it couldn't be used i.e. different operating pressure or anything?
Now the mornings are getting cooler the poor cold running is becoming more of an issue so I need to get it sorted soon.

I would just replace the unit with a new one  :'(

That's my dilema VR6, if I bung a secondhand one on and it doesn't fix it then I could still suspect that the replacement regulator is no good. However if I put a new one on and it doesn't fix it then I've blown another ?80 on something that hasn't helped. The old catch 22 scenario!

Just find a smacked 16v and offer the owner 10 quid for the part you want.

Can't go wrong. Everyone sells the expensive bits of their dead cars - but they never sell the expensive to replace boring parts.

Hey, its just common sense isn't it ;-)

Everyone goes "i've got a rear big bumper, and 3 18" alloys, and 1 modified front wing to accomodate the wheel, and 3 really really firm shock" but they never say "i've got a fully working coil for a fiver, or a working headlight switch for a fiver"

Do you know how much a headlight switch costs? 20 quid!? Next time you turn your lights, think "20 blumin quid" - that'll make you be nice to it.
