Never had a turbo'd car before, have heard a lot of noise about DV's, what do they do, what do i get from putting a better one on, will putting a better one on cock anything up or ruin mpg?
What benefits if any are there?
Cheers,
Mat

Basically, it allows the pressure that has built up when on throttle, to be released. If the pressure wasn't released then it would stall the turbo, and break it quite badly. A diverter valve releases the pressure back into the intake system, where as a blow off/dump valve let's the pressure back out into the atmosphere, hence you get that annoying noise that Skylines and Imprezas make.
An improved Diverter valve will not leak and let boost pressure out of the system, making the engine more responsive and build boost quicker. It will also be better for a remapped engine as the standard ones are quite fragile (depending on year of make) when asked to hold more boost pressure.

I had the Forge one on mine. Not the mk4 one though
I've heard people say the latest version VW one is as good.

Snap, got a Forge one on mine but as the wise man has said, latest VW one will do the job just as well (if not better?).

Im picking up my mk5 2moro/friday & it has a receipt for this has been changed,
If it is this new type, will it be ok for a R-tech Re-map ?
Cheers

Will be fine with the remap. The old ones had a rubber diapraghm that split, the new ones are metal/plastic, so much stronger.
