for some great reason all 4 on my 1.6 driver have been rounded to i cant undo them with an allen key, any suggestions how to get them out, and where to get some replacements
cheers
-
smack a slightly bigger socket over the whole bolt itself and this should undo it. Tip was given to me by '6' and its a top tip.
buy the bolts direct from vw for about 40p or something

or get a set of molegrips on them. these are a f**k*r and almost everyone will have had these problems before!!!
-
Had the same problem. i used heat and molegrips seemed to do the trick
-
mole grips, lol, yeah i tried them and well i tried to hard that the head of it now is all mangled up, no matter how tight i put them on it still twisted off, what did u use to heat a blow lamp? think i might cut the head off so i can get the caliper off and then try and get the mole grips onto the remaining thread?
are the ones on gti's the exact same bolt or not

oxy/acetelene mate
-
dont cut them off. i did that and it took agez and was a messy job with the angle grinder
soak them in WD40 over night. Then smack a socket over the whole bolt and undo it that way. it will come off in seconds

Hmmm, guess it was you that just asked me on ebay if i had them!
-
lol, small world, i sent the money for the clocks this morn, should arrive tomorro or sat
cheers

ok so i finnally did it, got the bolts from main dealer at about 39p a bolt,
and the way i got them off was with smacking one of those star shaped bits that was bigger than the original 6mm into it and turning off with a rachet, came off realy easy.
cheers for the help guys
