I'm looking for a Mk3 GTi 8v, and have come across this ad... I've spoken to the guy selling it, and he seems genuine - he's happy for me to take it to a garage for an inspection. He says he won't budge much on the price though, and I want to know if I'll be paying over the odds...
Here's the ad :
1996 Volkswagen Golf GTi 8v, P reg. FSH, Dragon Green Met paintwork, unmarked sports cloth, full electrics inc s/roof, ABS, 4 new tyres, ww months MOT, ?2,995
It's done 100,000 miles - slightly over average... Is that a good price for that age/mileage, assuming the rest of the car is mint? Also, assuming it's been looked after (and the FSH would suggest it has), am I likely to get another 100,000 miles out of it?
Ta! ;D

Seems OK to me, I bought a 96 with exactly the same spec and FWSH but with only 43k on the clock for ?5k a year ago

Thanks... I'm going to have a gander in the morning. Hopefully it's in good nick!

Don't rush into anything, theres bound to be something better round the corner..... ;)

Aah, now you've done it, added the paranoia back into my mind... I keep missing the really good deals!
Do you not think that's a good price for it then? :-\

Its OK, but i would still try and find a low mileage one. Last time i looked in the autotrader a few weeks ago, there was sh!t loads of mk3 8vs for sale. Take your pick.

Just done a search, there's 51 within 50 miles of my house matching VW Golf GTi. Not that many are Mk3 5dr 8v's. There're a few - but not that many of them are under 100,000 miles. Of the ones that are, they've pretty much all been sold :(
Any more ideas? ;D
