What do you guy's think of park assist is it any good ? I will hold my own views just yet ?? :undecided:
-
I tried it and it hit the curb. I was told by the salesman this was because it uses the other cars to line up with. So i decided it was not for me.

PA is CRA .............. P
Unless you are a ladyboy and drive a TIGUAN.
-
From what I've been told by a colleague who has PA on their GTD it's not worth the money, apparently it uses sensors to align itself with other parked cars so if they are parked miles from the kerb or tight up against the kerb this is the way your car ends up.
So much easier to park yourself, it's another gadget to cost a mint when it breaks.
-
I dissagree...
It just works.
It parks you in a space you would struggle with, turns the wheel way faster than any human can...and hasn't managed to kerb one of my wheels - after all, the mirror tips, I have eyes, and am still in control of the brake pedal!
Would I pay for it again?
Yup...
-
Worth every penny :) showed a customer who picked up a tiguan match and saw there mouth drop as I parked up.
-
Yes it's worth it and hasn't failed me yet on our Tiguan

My previous reaction was in jest. PA would be most useful to me in my present medical state. Well, one lives and learns the hard way eventually.

I think it was brilliant (was, because it’s not available on R). Yes, you can fool it and it gets confused sometimes but once it finds a spot it always parks in the first attempt.
For £80 it’s the best value for money. If you go for sensors and camera you HAVE to order this one.
Also, hasn't hit a kerb once.

I havent used the park assist yet , finding it a bit fiddley TBH , and when you have traffic behind you there getting hacked off waiting
-
Bit fidly pressing one button Steve : ) and maybe the indicator stork if you have a space on the drivers side.
-
Just got back from Portsmouth £10 there £10 back 120miles round trip 65-70 most of the time, not bad for a 4WD :smug:. The cabin is so much quieter than the Golf too.
-
Used the park assist for the 2nd time today. Would you believe a C1 attempted to get in the space and drove off! They are a tiny car. I looked at the space. Certainly looked too small for the golf. Decided to let the car decide. Indicatated, pressed the park assist button. Moved past the space watching the MFD for the reverse arrow.
... it just worked!
It is such a strange experience!
Fiancee was so impressed. She wants it on her next car.
-
I tried to use it tonight and I think its load crap TBH , couldn't get it to work

I had a similar experience in a passat CC I had about 10 months ago, tried it once and said never again.
Maybe practice is the way forward?
-
I think it's quite good, but needs practice to trust it fully IMO.
1st thing you need to suss is stopping for a second or so before you hit R and start reversing. Can seem longer if you've someone behind you and you're under a bit of pressure. Otherwise if you rush it and hit R and start reversing too quickly you just hear a ping and it clicks off. Same if you go too fast when reversing - just pings off.
Once you get used to these things it's great. I use it every time now and it can get you into some seriously tight spaces. Just take your time, the gimp behind pressing to get past will marvel at the space you've just shoehorned yourself into!

My idea of a living nightmare. Shoe-horning yourself into a space to come back and find the other cars either side of you have used your bumpers as stops to get themselves out.
BIG open spaces for me.
