Thats a fair price Guy, for a reputable garage... so long as they fit a cambelt kit! a decent kit alone is around 70 quid, Im guessing that is with VAT as well..

yeah... been told that is a worst case scenario too so not too bad
its not the worlds best garage but nats knows the bloke who works there really well so he's not going to leave it as a gash job

Unfortunately, they are the going rates these days, for what seems like bread and butter jobs...

Make sure they do the pulleys! Just had the parents focus engine explode! They reckon when the cambelt was done the pulleys weren;t changed / changed for cheapo russian ones. Camshafts in 4 pieces!
-
thanks for the replies... they're doing everything... also having the aux belt and tensioners/pulleys on that done too.. made sure it was a decent cambelt kit too
it needs to be done asap as it wasn't sounding healthy... plus i'm not lying under a car in this sh!te weather

I think thats a very cheap price if it includes the full timing kit and a service.

Ask the bottom pulley bolt to be replaced by a genuine item...
Gates ones arent great... can come undone...
-
Cambelt kit
Air filter
Oil filter
Pollen filter
Spark plugs
Oil
Aux belt
Fuel filter
Wheel bearing x2
Pulley
Tension pulley
Plus 4 hours labour
Should have been £526 :lipsrsealed:

Mates rates?

Mates rates?
yeah... £350 all in.. plus fitting a new headlight bulb and fixing the cig lighter for the sat nav
the only thing the lazy git didn't do was replace the indicator stalk as the indicators don't cancel out after going around a bend.. this means I still have to lift my fingers up after going around a corner to cancel out the indicator... you just can't get the staff these days!

no, its just that it isn't my car... it belongs to my better half as it were
if I play about with mine and get it wrong then it only affects me, if I piss about with a ford that I know nothing about and it then goes tits up with the knock on affects of school runs, getting the good lady to and from work.. plus... the car has been, touch wood, pretty much spot on in the time that she has had it, if I start playing about with the engine and something else starts going wrong with it then guess who would get the blame! i'm leaving that one well alone!
