Title: tdi 130 blue smoke
Post by: kevvick on 21 June 2011, 20:32
Hi ive got a 130 tdi which has startedsmoking when leftticking over for any length of time, it is also slightly underpowered compared to what it used to be, its blue smoke but doesnt smell its burning oil and im thinking it could be injectors, has anyone else had this problem with their engine?

Leaky injectors usually give off a slight tapping noise.

Injectors won't usually give off a blue smoke, that will be black. (as seen on heavily modded or badly mapped diesels when booting it)

Blue smoke means oil. You would be wise to check your oil levels, it is usually the valve seals but could be the rings are very worn and would need replacing. The other option is to get a bottle of millers diesel treatment and run that through a couple of tanks to clean the system before going over board.

No tapping noise, not more than usual, ive had diesels before that have had worn injector nozzles causing them to knock and have blue smoke, but it seems to be ok unless its left ticking over for any length of time i.e longer than 2 mins.

Blue smoke is oil so you may even have a turbo seal in trouble.
