In need of some help here people!!
I want something that looks and performs well. I have 2 options here...... A 2000 Audi A3 Sport 1.8 20v 125bhp non turbo. This has 139k, full MOT and 5 months Tax. It also has no service history with 4 owners from new.....No history at all which puts me off a bit.
The Celica is a 1997 Gen 6 2.0 16v 174bhp with 2 owners from new, 127k, full service history....But with 2 weeks Tax left and 5 months MOT. The thing that puts me off the Celica is it has been lowered with huge wheels, this appeals to some but I think it looks a bit chav! Although.....It does look like a nice car and the owner seems very genuine.
I looked at parts on Ebay and see the A3 uses a few Golf MK3/4 parts like brakes, exhaust so that is all good.
Also....I have an almost 13 year old daughter and a 10st Bullmastiff who both travel with me a few times in the week.
What should I do as both are willing to straight swap for my focus estate (Workhorse) ??
Paul

Just the Man then Chris!
What are they like to run, average MPG? Also what are parts like to source.....expensive? And....What is the performance like, say compared to a MK3 Golf GTI?

Celica, the A3 will be slooooooooooooooooow!
-
The A3 won't move, at least get a 1.8t 150bhp or a3 quattro 180bhp.
-
Celica FTW, used to have one, Good solid cars, unfortunaly most have been ranted throught there life :(
Or get a GT4
Parts arnt cheep though, MPG is around 35mpg if driven well :)

A 1.8 non turbo a3 neither looks good nor performs well so i'd write that off straight away, especially with the lack of history. If your going for an A3 it needs to be a 1.8T and a facelift version at that

The Celica is a good car, Mine pulls well in every gear, Engines a pretty much bullet proof, Not much to go wrong on them, Parts can still be get from main dealers & not that bad on price (I used to work at Toyota)
They are ok performance wise & do like to be reved, They handle very well, Nice driving position aswell, Only 2 seats in the rear though.
Fuel wise, nice & steady I would say 30 ish mpg,

Watch out for the super strut suspension i'n the celica very expensive to repair...

I do like them Celicas, lovely motors. As other have said. A3 1.8 N/A will look like any other A3 and will go just the same, take that off your list now.
What is the performance like, say compared to a MK3 Golf GTI?
This bit made me chuckle with laughter :D :D :D
