Title: Cutting heatshield.
Post by: ineson on 20 June 2011, 18:58
Right, after putting up with an annoying rattle on my exhaust I decided to take the heatshield off. Its a  16v and is the one on the downpipe and after taking off the crimps on one side and half way up the other I can't get to the last bits. Without taking the exhaust off has anyone else taken the heatshield off? Think I need some metal cutters to just rip through the last bit.

The trouble is without it you cook the paint on the bulkhead which can lead to rust starting.

It was rusted mate and falling off so going to have to wrap it in exhaust wrap or something, just couldnt live with the rattling!

Try a long hardened screwdriver and a trusty hammer.

Yeah that's the plan for tomorrow after work. Tried tonight but the rain came and put a stop to it, just hope tomorrow is dry!
