Post by: solarized on 07 April 2005, 00:01
Hi all. New here, so go easy plz!
I got 2 mk2 8v's One's a belter, gettin' painted to make mint next week. One's going to the scrappers! I wanna get as much off the scrapper one b4 it goes, apart from obvious, which bits are worth tryin to salvage? Also, planning to take head off, get it reconne'd slowly, and eventually swap to one I keepin'. Anyone know where I get the tool to remove head bolts ?
Cheers.

 having scrapped numerous golfs here's what i would keep:-

window regulators, alternator, starter, distributor (if not keeping the engine) expansion bottle, wiper motor both front and rear, headlights if not chipped, radiator and cooling fan, dash clocks, dash surround (the bit that goes around the clocks with the switches in) switches, heater panel if it still lights up,all calipers, drive shafts if in good nick, gearbox if you have the room and it's ok,glass if you also have the room and finally the fuel box and pump from under the car and the pump in the tank...........not really worth keeping panels unless there mint...........hope this helps joe
